Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 November 2026
Kleos Journal (https://narcissustasty-pistachio-bar.shop) is an editorial blog about Greek myths, written and run by the editors of Kleos Journal ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it and how we look after it. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). There is not much to report: the site has no accounts, comments, payments, newsletter, advertising or tracking pixels.
The short version
- You can read every page without telling us who you are.
- We only receive personal information if you write to us, through the contact form or at [email protected].
- We use it to reply, keep it no longer than 24 months and never sell it.
- Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs for a short time, for security.
- The site stores your cookie choice in your browser, plus a small flag for the opening animation.
What we collect
Messages you send us. The contact form asks for your name, email address, the topic of your note and the message itself. If you email [email protected] directly, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write. Please don't include sensitive information, such as health details; we don't need it to answer a question about Medusa.
Server logs. Our hosting provider automatically records basic technical details of each request: IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These logs are used only to keep the site secure and running, and they are kept for a short period before being deleted.
Browser storage. One entry remembers your cookie choice and a session flag stops the opening animation from replaying on every page. Neither tells us who you are. Our Cookie Policy lists them in full.
Fonts and images are served from narcissustasty-pistachio-bar.shop itself, so we load nothing from Google Fonts or other third-party services.
Staying anonymous
You don't have to give your real name to write to us, and a pseudonym is fine (APP 2). We do need a working email address if you would like a reply.
How the contact form works
The form doesn't send anything on its own. When you press send, it opens your own email app with the message already written; nothing leaves your device until you send that email, and it reaches us as an ordinary email.
How we use and disclose information
We use your message only to read it, answer it and, if you have reported a mistake, to correct the page. We won't add you to a mailing list, use your details for marketing or sell them to anyone.
We disclose personal information only to the service providers that help us run the site:
- our hosting provider, which serves the pages and keeps the server logs
- our email provider, which stores the messages we send and receive
We would only disclose information to anyone else if the law required it.
Storing information overseas
Our hosting and email providers may store or process data on servers outside Australia, and those locations can change as they manage their systems. As APP 8 requires, we take reasonable steps to make sure these overseas recipients handle personal information consistently with the APPs, for example by choosing providers that make binding data-protection and security commitments.
How long we keep it
- Messages: for as long as we need them to deal with your note, and no longer than 24 months. Then they are deleted.
- Server logs: for a short period set by the hosting provider, then deleted.
- Your cookie choice: in your browser until you clear it; we ask again after 12 months.
Keeping it secure
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access (APP 11). The site is served over HTTPS, and access to messages is limited to the people who answer them. If a data breach were ever likely to cause serious harm, we would notify the people affected and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.
Access and correction
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you (APP 12) and ask us to correct it (APP 13) or delete it. Write to [email protected] from the address you used to contact us, or tell us how we can confirm the request is yours. There is no charge.
Children
Kleos Journal is not aimed at children under 13, and we ask children under 13 not to send us personal information. If you are a parent or guardian and think your child has written to us, let us know and we will delete the message.
Questions and complaints
If you have a question or a concern about how we have handled your information, please contact us first at [email protected] or through our contact page. We will look into it and reply in writing. If you haven't heard back within 30 days, or you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the OAIC at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
If the way we handle information changes, for example if a new service is added, we will update this page before the change takes effect. This version was last updated on 3 November 2026. Our Terms of Use explain the rules for using the site itself.
